Spring Cleaning Tips
It’s that time of year again. The snow has melted. The days are getting longer – all the better to see the dirty windows, the cobwebs and the dust! What time is it? It’s Spring Cleaning Time. For many people, the tasks seem daunting, perhaps even overwhelming. Here are some tips that will help make the job easier, from a professional cleaning service with over 1,500,000 hours of experience.STEP 1. HAVE ALL SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT READY CHECKLIST OF EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES VACUUM WITH POWER HEAD AND ATTACHMENTS VACUUM BAGS STRING MOP BROOM DUST PAN BUCKET TOILET BRUSH STEP STOOL HANDLED DUSTER COTTON CLEANING RAGS GENERAL PURPOSE CLEANER GLASS CLEANER TILE AND PORCELAIN CLEANER PAPER TOWEL S.O.S. STEP 2. TURN OFF FURNACE FANS Spring cleaning will stir up dust. You do not want the furnace moving it around the house. This is a good time to replace / clean your furnace filters. STEP 3. DO ONE ROOM / AREA AT A TIME Start up high and work your way down through the house. Dust and dirt falls. Don’t start cleaning until you do step 4. STEP 4. PICK UP, SORT OUT, THROW AWAY Once you have decided on the first room to clean, follow this step carefully. You cannot clean around clutter and extra “stuff”. Begin by removing everything from the room except large furniture. As each item comes out, decide its fate: Throw away items should be bagged or boxed for garbage, recycling or charity and placed to go out. Items that are for keeping can be placed into laundry hampers. You will clean these items after the room is cleaned – as you place them back in. STEP 5. FOLLOW A SYSTEM TO CLEAN THE ROOM With all the stuff out, you are ready to clean the room. Start up high. Move around the room in one direction. Use the dusting tool on the vacuum to get at cobwebs. Always clean floors last. These tips are provided as a public service by Canada’s Oldest and Ottawa’s Largest Residential Cleaning Service.
